Did You Miss Me?
What July's rest, resistance, and quiet revealed
Did you miss me? I thought of you often during my July respite. Sharing my wisdom with you fills my cup because it reminds me that my past was not lived in vain. I get to live a life that recycles pain into wisdom and meaning for others. If my Letters bless you, please drop me a note and share your experience. I would love to hear from you!
When I left for my respite in July, I shared with you the importance of an overflowing cup. When we give from the overflow, we maintain our capacity to be emotionally mastered, cognitively sharp, body attuned and intuitively led. That is when wisdom emerges and radiates out of you with power and purpose.
What does all this mean? Most of what comes to your cup is for you, not to give away to others. If you develop a pattern of giving from your cup and not the saucer, what has been given to you for you gets drained. You become tired, annoyed, impatient, lose focus, and make decisions from survival instead of wisdom. Survival decisions eventually lead to more difficulty. But, when you allow your cup to fill to overflowing, wisdom emerges and what you share leaves you full and others blessed beyond measure.
Most of what comes to your cup is for you, not to give away to others.
While taking the July respite was rooted in wisdom, it did not exempt me from running into challenges. An old bully resurfaced in an attempt to drain my cup. I must admit that for a while, my attention was redirected from what I wanted to accomplish in July. I felt the pull of old patterns, old reactions, the temptation to give from an empty place instead of the overflow. However, the lessons I learned during that period were life-changing and helped shape what’s next in the fulfillment of my purpose.
When you stop and rest, you see the most beautiful parts of nature and realize we are all in this life together.
Here’s what that season taught me: even when you are doing what you know is best, the next level of transformation is just beyond the horizon; but you have to get there. You must keep going.
What I have never appreciated is the long road up to the horizon. The length of time, the exertion of energy, the unknown path, the fear of not making it. I used to balk at the idea that the greatest life lessons come from the most challenging of experiences. This used to frustrate me and make me question God. I believed that living a life of faith and obedience qualified me for smooth sailing. Not true.
This is especially a reality when you are being guided intuitively. You are only led to the water because you are thirsty. Intuition does not coddle you, it takes you to the well of your greatest need; to the source of growth and elevation. Eventually I will share my July experience in more detail, but for now please know that bullies never change and their power lives only in the fear they elicit. Once you no longer fear, you can stand firm; remain resolved, determined and unmoved. That is when the peace that surpasses all understanding fills your soul.
During my respite, I found a new level of peace, freedom and clarity. Through the challenges, prayer, journaling, research and relaxation, something new and transformative emerged. I am excited to share it with you when the time is right.
For now, keep filling your cup to overflowing, listen to the still small voice of your intuition, and make space for what wants to come forth for you and through you.
I am always with you!
