Stop Pretending
Be honest with yourself?
You may not even recognize it as pretending. You put on a happy face when you walk into a room after just crying in the car. You post the perfect family photos when your marriage is falling apart. The excellent work product you produce does not reveal your lack of fulfillment. You are an active member of many organizations and a valuable asset to everyone around you but it is not evident that you are stretched way too thin. You show up to every social event all buttoned up and put together.
But what is the story being told on the inside?
So let’s get radically honest. When you look at the canvas of your life, do you like what you see?
This letter is about being REAL. Getting realigned with the truth of who you are created to be. So before you go any further, take a few moments with the assessment below.
What did you uncover?
Now sit with these three questions. Do not rush past them.
If these ratings remain the same for the rest of your life, will you be at peace when it is time to transition from this earth?
If you were honest with yourself right now, what regrets are already forming?
And what would you change today while you still have time to change it?
Do not be hypnotized into living as though you have unlimited time.
This world will convince you that putting off what is in your best interest is virtue. Serve others. Give back. Do not be selfish. It is better to give than to receive.
There is truth in all of that. And there is also a way those messages become weapons used against you. They can quietly place you in a position of self-denial so complete that you stop showing up for your own life while showing up beautifully for everyone else’s.
There is no virtue in relinquishing the life God designed for you to live. Just the opposite. Leaving this earth without fulfilling your purpose, without living the full and satisfying life you were created for, is dishonoring to your creator.
It is like a refrigerator that never cools food. What a waste of craftsmanship.
You are a beautifully designed being with purpose and desires. There is so much more for you to experience and you know it. There are desires living within you that you have pushed down under all the doing for others. You have spent years building a career and checking every box on someone else’s definition of success.
But what about yours?
What will it take for you to acknowledge that you want more? And what will it take for you to actually do something about it?
This letter is for you if you are ready to stop pretending. If you are ready to get REAL and commit to reclaiming the quality of life that will bring you joy, fulfillment, and genuine happiness.
If that is you then I have space in my practice reserved just for you. Space to be heard. Supported. And guided on a beautiful journey back to all of you. You have lived an amazing life. Now it is time to put all the pieces together for your own enjoyment of this one life you have been given.
